This unincorporated Portland neighborhood is bordered by the Willamette River on the east side, Tryon Creek on the west, Lewis and Clark College to the north and Lake Oswego to the south. Dunthorpe's origin stem back to 1916 when Ladd Estate Company purchased 215 acres from the Oregon Iron and Steel. Specific provisions for developing Dunthorpe dictated only residential dwellings be allowed. Today, the neighborhood is a unique community of residents who commute easily in the Portland metro region, thrive in the award-winning Riverdale schools, and dwell in uniquely designed homes in idyllic natural settings with plenty of trees and green space.

The Dunthorpe neighborhood will be part of the new South "quadrant" or actually "sextant" of the city beginning around May 2020.
